Our origin

Why we exist.

Consulting firms tend to stop at the plan. Delivery firms tend to start without one.

The work in between, turning a plan into a function that performs every day, seemed underserved. So we built a firm for it. Alternative Path was founded in 2020 by practitioners with backgrounds in institutional asset management, large-scale technology delivery, and global capability operations.

The firm has two parts: a Consulting Practice that designs, and four Service Practices that build and run. Both are senior-led, and both answer for the same outcome. Since then we have worked with senior leaders across private markets, fintech, and enterprise software, spanning Technology Ops, Data Ops, Business Intelligence, and Finance functions.

Every engagement is led by a Practice Lead with ten or more years in the discipline. Our staffing model makes that automatic: no engagement starts without one. Junior team members support the work; they never own it.

Vikrant Ludhra

Co-Founder and CEO

Vikrant leads the firm's growth strategy, client relationships, and India operations. Before founding Alternative Path, he set up and ran a Centre of Excellence for the world's largest alternative asset management firm, scaling it from 6 to more than 400 professionals across technology and business operations. Earlier he spent over a decade at S&P Capital IQ as Global Director of Software Quality Assurance and Technology, where he also started the client development team and oversaw more than 30 large financial-firm engagements across India and South East Asia. He began his career at GE Capital International Services. He is based in Gurugram, India.

Ankit Malhotra

Ankit Malhotra

Co-Founder and COO

Ankit runs the firm's operations and delivery. His background is in building and running testing centres of excellence, IT strategy, and programme management. Before founding Alternative Path, he was Senior Vice President and Quality Engineering Head at a Centre of Excellence serving the world's largest asset management firm, where he transformed the quality engineering practice, led more than 100 people, and helped start the application support, business design, and data visualisation teams. Earlier he was a Quality Assurance Manager at S&P Capital IQ, where his team delivered the first mobile application for Capital IQ. He is a PMI-certified Project Manager and holds multiple quality assurance certifications.

Harpreet Singh

Co-Founder and CIO

Harpreet leads the firm's technology and automation work: automation tools and frameworks, process optimisation, and testing transformation. Before founding Alternative Path, he was Director of Quality Assurance and Head of the QA Automation practice at a Centre of Excellence serving the world's largest alternative asset management firm, where he built the automation framework and tools used across the organisation. Earlier he was a Quality Assurance Manager at S&P Capital IQ (now S&P Global), where he led the test team for the migration of TheMarkets.com onto Capital IQ after its 2011 acquisition. He is a PMI-certified Project Manager and holds multiple quality assurance certifications.

Bill Murphy

Senior Advisor

Bill is a Managing Partner at Cresting Wave, where he connects technology leaders with innovative young companies. From 2011 to 2020 he was Senior Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer at Blackstone, leading Blackstone Innovations, the firm's use of technology, and a strategic technology investment portfolio, and serving on the boards of numerous technology investments and the Blackstone Charitable Foundation. Before that he was the founding CTO of Capital IQ from 1999 to 2011, responsible for all product design, development, and infrastructure. He started his career leading teams at Sapient, and holds a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Rahul leads quality initiatives at Alternative Path for the firm's AI-driven software platform in the alternatives space, with a focus on translating AI-driven innovation into reliable products that strengthen customer confidence. Before joining, he served as Senior QA Manager at a Centre of Excellence supporting one of the world's largest asset management firms, where he led and scaled multiple QA and support teams across enterprise applications. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance and professional certifications in cloud and agile methodologies.

Director

Harpal leads Quality Engineering and operational transformation at Alternative Path, helping organisations modernise software delivery through automation, AI adoption, and scalable engineering practices. Before this, he spent over a decade leading strategic Quality Engineering programmes for one of the world's largest alternative asset management firms, building and managing globally distributed teams across multiple regions. He is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Scrum Master, and ISTQB Certified Tester.

Parth Mehta

Director

Parth leads Technology Operations at Alternative Path, with responsibility for data operations, web data acquisition and scraping programmes, and the delivery of bespoke data solutions for global clients. Before joining, he managed a technology operations team at Index Funds of over 60 professionals supporting financial services clients, including organisations managing ETF and index-tracking products, where he drove automation and modernised valuation platforms. Earlier, he spent nearly a decade at Centre of Excellence serving one of the world's largest active asset management firms, across quality assurance and large-scale technology transformation programmes. He brings deep expertise across financial services, private equity, alternative asset management, ETFs, and index management.

Vikas leads quality engineering delivery at Alternative Path, partnering with clients to drive quality transformation, strengthen testing capabilities, and deliver scalable automation solutions. Before joining, he spent nearly a decade at Centre of Excellence serving one of the world's largest private equity firms, where he led a team of more than 25 quality engineering professionals and helped establish testing frameworks and quality governance practices. Earlier, he worked at HCL Technologies, where he built his foundation in software testing and project delivery. He has over 15 years of experience across financial services, private equity, and investment banking, and brings deep expertise in AI-powered test automation, intelligent test data generation, and data-driven quality engineering.

Vishal leads the firm's development practice, directing the teams that build Alternative Path's products and setting its technical direction and delivery standards. His focus is the firm's suite of AI-enabled products, including QA Path, a platform that streamlines the end-to-end software testing lifecycle for QA teams. He also oversees the firm's engineering infrastructure and DevOps practices, with an emphasis on embedding AI across the development lifecycle. He has around 13 years in software engineering, beginning in QA automation at Cognizant before moving to Centre of Excellence serving one of the world's largest private equity firms, where he built test-automation frameworks and tooling for large QA teams.

Kulvinder leads data operations, governance, and business transformation at Alternative Path. Before joining, she served as Director at S&P Global, where she led global teams across market intelligence, private markets data, financial research, and operational excellence. Over a two-decade career she has built and scaled new functions, established governance frameworks, and managed global workforce planning and vendor operations. Her expertise spans private equity and venture capital data, mergers and acquisitions, corporate actions, and organisational development. She is based in Gurugram, India.

A consulting recommendation can flow into a service practice for delivery, or stand alone if your internal team is the right path. We do not push delivery on the back of consulting.
